Session Synopsis:
Helping teachers to achieve well-being
Being in the ‘people business’, we need to know how to achieve a state of resourcefulness. A lack of well-being and experiencing burnout are detrimental to the health of individuals and also to the sustainability of the profession as a whole. This workshop will focus on the concept of disassociation enabling teachers to come up with creative ideas to help them cope as well as learning how to again associate into the situations where these ideas need to be put into practice. Participants will first learn how a coach can help them through the process and then have the chance try out coaching another person. Major takeaways will include learning to identify a state of well-being, experiencing the differences between being associated in a situation and dissociating from it, learning a coaching technique to help others move from a state of feeling overwhelmed to taking charge of their individual needs, and differentiating between emotional and intellectual states of mind. Participants will discuss negative situations and individual ideas to overcome them. The concepts of association and disassociation will be explained. A specific coaching technique will then be demonstrated and participants will then have the chance to try it out themselves in groups.
